Sigmadrive PMT445M motor controller
This controller controls the permanent magnet traction motor on 48V. It is capable of delivering 450A for two minutes and is designed to continuously deliver 180A. The four quadrant MOSFET chopper features current measurement, CANbus communication for multiple converters and regenerative braking. The unit weighs 4,1kg.

Perm PMG 132 PMDC-machine
This motor is an axial permanent magnet brushed DC motor. It has eight brushes and is rated for 24-72V. At 48V it will run at 2300 RPM. It can take 200A for ten minutes and runs on 110A continuous current. At these conditions it generates 4,74kW of mechanical power and 20,5 Nm of torque. The unit weighs 10 kg.

Enersys PowerSafe SBS 40 and 60 batteries
The juice comes from four 12V batteries connected in series. Two models are available: 38Ah and 51Ah. These are 6 cell lead batteries weighing respectively 12,7kg and 18,5kg. Usually two of each type are installed giving 178Ah of power for 62,4kg of added weight. This setup can provide the motor 1 hour and 37 minutes of full throttle.

Motor + motor controller setup
After the success of eKart 1.0, we want to improve the acceleration of our new kart. Two motors of each 5 kW will help us achieve this. We purchased the HPM5000B motor with its corresponding HPC300H motor controller.

Firstly, we will connect both motors to the same driven shaft, but there are future plans to control the shafts separately. Four 12V batteries, coupled in series, will provide the required power. Also safety measures are taken by isolated electric battery connections.
